Dear Sir/Madam,

We Sri Lankans residing in all over the world have been facing immense difficulties

since the emergence of the COVID 19 Global Pandemic. Losing employments, losing

income, losing residence and being infected with COVID 19 are some of the difficulties we

encounter at the face of Global Pandemic.

Even though we are being employed in foreign countries for several years strengthened

major part of our country's economy generating foreign exchange, the government of Sri

Lanka has ignored our difficulties. Neither Sri Lankan government has facilitated Sri Lankan

embassies to intervene to solve the difficulties we face living in foreign countries nor has

taken necessary steps to expedite our return to Sri Lanka. Although more than a year has

passed from the emergence of the global pandemic tens and thousands of Sri Lankans are

losing their jobs, livelihoods, residences and even lives on foreign soil.

Even if we have urged the Sri Lankan government via embassies as well as by letters,

petitions and demonstrations to make a fast and effective procedure for our return to Sri

Lanka the Sri Lankan government continue to ignore the problems of immigrants.We think

as an affiliated organization of United Nations, mediating into problems of immigrants this

issue also comes under your responsibilities. Notwithstanding that we observe no sufficient

attention has been drawn to the difficulties faced by the Sri Lankan immigrants amid this

COVID 19 pandemic.

Therefore, we request from you as the International Immigrants' Organization to urge and

demand the government of Sri Lanka to make an effective and expedite program to ensure

safe return of Sri Lankan immigrants who are suffering due to COVID 19 global pandemic.

මහත්මයාණෙනි, මහත්මියනි,

ලෝකයේ විවිධ රටවල්හි වෙසෙන ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන් වන අපි 2019 දෙසැම්බර් මාසයේදී කොවිඩ් 19 ලෝක වසංගත තත්වය ඇති වූ දින සිට බරපතල ප්රශ්න රාශියකට මුහුණ පා සිටිමු. කොවිඩ් 19 ලෝක වසංගත තත්වය හමුවේ රැකියා අහිමි වීම, ආදායම් අහිමි වීම, වාසස්ථාන අහිමි වීම, හා කොවිඩ් 19 රෝගයට ගොදුරු වීම ඇතුළු ප්රශ්න රාශියකට මේ මොහොතේ දී අපි මුහුණ පා සිටිමු.

වසර ගණනාවක් පුරා විදේශ ගතව රැකියාවෙහි යෙදෙමින් විදේශ විනිමය ලෙස අප රටේ ජාතික ආදායමෙන් අති විශාල පංගුවක් සොයා දුන්නද කොවිඩ් 19 ලෝක වසංගත තත්වය හමුවේ ශ්රී ලංකා රජය අපගේ ගැටළු වෙත මැදිහත් වීම මග හැර ඇත. විදේශ රටක සංක්රමණිකයන් ලෙස ජීවත් වන අප මෙම වසංගත තත්වය හමුවේ මුහුණ දෙන ගැටළු වලට මැදිහත් වීම සඳහා අවශ්ය පහසුකම් අදාළ තානාපති කාර්යාල වෙත ලබා දීම මගහැර ඇති ශ්රී ලංකා රජය අප අපගේ මව් රට වෙත ගෙන්වා ගැනීමට ද නිසි, කඩිනම් වැඩ පිළිවෙලක් මේ දක්වා සකසා නැත. කොවිඩ් වසංගත තත්වය ඇති වී වසරකට වැඩි කාලයක් ගත වුවද ලක්ෂ ගණනක් වූ ශ්රී ලාංකික සංක්රමණිකයන් රැකියා අහිමිව, ආදායම් අහිමි ව, වාසස්ථාන අහිමි ව, හා කොවිඩ් 19 රෝගයට ගොදුරු වෙමින් හා ඇතැම් විට මිය යමින් සිටී.

මේ තත්ත්වයට වහා මැදිහත් වී අප අපගේ මව් රට ට ගෙන්වා ගැනීමට කඩිනම් වැඩ පිළිවෙලක් සකස් කරන ලෙසට තානාපති කාර්යාල හරහාත් ලිපි, පෙත්සම්, උද්ඝෝෂණ හරහාත් ඉල්ලීම් කළද ශ්රී ලංකා රජය සංක්රමණිකයන් වන අපගේ ගැටළු වලට මැදිහත් වීම මග හරිමින් සිටී.

ජාත්යන්තර සංක්රමණික ගැටළු පිළිබඳ සොයා බලා මැදිහත් වීම එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සංවිධානයට අනුබද්ධ ආයතනයක් ලෙස ඔබ සංවිධානය වෙතටද පැවරෙන වගකීමක් යැයි අපි විශ්වාස කරමු. එසේ වුවද විදේශ ගතව ජීවත් වන ශ්රි ලාංකික සංක්රමණිකයන් කොවිඩ් 19 ලෝක වසංගත තත්වය හමුවේ මුහුණ පා ඇති මෙකී දුෂ්කර තත්වය පිළිබඳ තවමත් ප්රමාණවත් අවධානයක් යොමු වී නැති බව අපගේ අදහසයි.

එබැවින්, ජාත්යන්තර සංක්රමණික සංවිධානය ලෙස විදේශ ගතව කොවිඩ් 19 ලෝක වසංගත තත්වයෙන් පීඩාවට පත්ව සිටින ශ්රී ලාංකික සංක්රමණිකයන් වහාම මව් රට ට ගෙන්වා ගැනීමට කඩිනම් වැඩ පිළිවෙලක් සකස් කරන ලෙසට ශ්රී ලංකා රජය ට බල කර සිටිමු.
